Registrations deadline for the first edition of competition “Africa Design Award” initially planned on 30th April 2014 is extended until 9th May. According to the official site of the competition which published the news, three prizes are involved for this first edition of the competition that is promoting African creations. They are: the First Prize that will carry the signature of the Moroccan Designer Hicham Lahlou, Prize of young talent and the Coup de cœur of the Jury.
Prize-winners of the competition “Africa Design Award” will enjoy visibility on international level thanks to the networks of organizers. As a reminder, the competition is an initiative of the Moroccan Designer Hicham Lahlou.
“Africa Design Award is an initiative aiming at carrying high colors of Design in Africa. It is also a way to allow African talents known and to participate in the development of the continent, thanks to their creativity, their common sense and their public-spirited commitment”, underlined organizers.
The finale of the competition will take place on 23rd May 2014 in Libreville (Gabon) during the ceremony of official festivity of next New York Forum Africa. The choice of Gabon is not for granted. The country is maintaining close relations with its Moroccan counterpart. According to Lahlou, “Africa Design Award” is “a way of positioning Morocco and Africa at the heart of world stage of design, a strategy that aims at creating one of the biggest networks of emerging design, all countries and all categories taken together.”
