The 10th edition of human rights and freedom of speech festival “Ciné droit libre” was closed last Saturday in Ouagadougou, a festival opened on 1st June 2014 under the theme “I have a dream“.
For a week, human rights and freedom of speech have been emphasized through movies, conferences, concerts, etc.
The Senegalese Mehdi Ba and the French Jeremy Frey are happy to see their movie “7 jours à Kigali, la semaine où le Rwanda a bascule” (7 days in Kigali, the week when Rwanda fell over), won the Grand Prix.
All in all 43 movies were projected among which, ten were in competition and the others, out of competition
Both directors so won the Grand Prix of the festival or the “Sergio Vieira de Mello” prize for 1 million FCFA. They also received a trophy.
In addition to the Grand Prix, other prizes such as the public prize for 500 000 FCFA and the special prize of the Diakonia NGO for 300 000 FCFA were awarded.
The festival was sponsored by the Ghanaian former president, John Jerry Rawlings.
