The Beninese capital town is welcoming for the 9th consecutive time, the international meeting of the young visual art creators called “Prom’ Art Jeunes”.
During the launching ceremony, the promoter of the event, Ghislain Fadohan, reminded its objectives.
Among others: contributing to the development of young talents in visual arts, giving more visibility to the young contemporary African talents, promoting and spreading the works of the artists and finally arousing through residences-missions an interest for the visual arts.
The biggest meeting of the visual arts in Benin will thus be filled by four main activities: international exhibition of contemporary art, residences-missions, training of young Beninese artists, meetings and exchanges and diverse projections
According to M Fadohan, only applications of the young creators from the following nine chosen countries will be admitted: Benin, Togo, Nigeria, Niger, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Mali and Senegal.
He specified that the deadline for the applications is set on the next 10th July, before reassuring the young artists whose fate depends on the technical steering committee in charge of the study of application files.
Organizers besides underlined that residences-missions will always take place on squares, markets, schools and hospitals.
It is an opportunity for the young creators to make sensitive the populations on themes such as flooding, lack of civic virtue and waste management.
The works proposed for the selection have to be new creations never displayed during an exhibition. They must be the property of the artist and date less than one year.
The opening of the international exhibition and the reward of the young talents are planned for the next 23rd August. The meeting will come to an end on 28th August 2014.
