Angola, one of the biggest diamond producers of the world, will launch at the end of September, the operation of polishing of its diamonds. The information was give on Thursday in Luanda by the Chairman of the National Diamond Company (Endiama) Meeting Board, António Carlos Sumbula.
The polishing of diamonds exploited in Angola will open the way to the on-the-spot processing of this noble metal. The National Diamond Company also announced the next jewels manufacturing. António Carlos Sumbula, the chairman of Endiama stays nevertheless realistic.
“We cannot operate yet in this domain all over the national territory, but we are on the right way. As we improve this experience, we will inform about the kimberlitic sites process“, he indicated to the Angolan News agency (Angop).
In 2013, Angola announced 5 % increase of its national diamonds production. The Objective fixed by the country is to appear among the first three world producers. According to the Acofin Agency, in 2013, over more than 1000 identified kimberlitic sites, Angola exploited only three kimberlites of which the mine of Catoca that represents 87 % of the national production of the Angolan diamond.
