The French Head of State, François Hollande appreciated on Friday the “considerable potentials” of development that are opened in Madagascar, “friendly and nearby country“.
He also reaffirmed the support of France for the development of the island.
“There are considerable potentials in the domain agricultural, energy and tourism also“, declared President Hollande during a press conference at the Elysée at the end of a meeting with his Madagascan counterpart, Hery Rajaonarimampianina.
“We suffered a lot from this past period between 2009 and 2014 where Madagascar lived a kind of permanent contesting and it was very important that Madagascar finds back this stability“, he continued, hinting at the political troubles occurred in the island during that period.
“Today, the challenge is the development of Madagascar with the closeness of the Reunion and Mayotte Islands“, he insisted.
François Hollande indicated that President Hery “will soon welcome French companies interested in new investments in Madagascar“.
The President of Republic however warned that “France is by the side of Madagascar for its development, success, restoring of the rule of law, good governance and fight against corruption. It is through these conditions that we can assure safety, development and growth“.
“It is the interest of Madagascar and it is the interest of France also“, he concluded.
