DR of Congo: recruitment of experts to counter Ebola

The government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (RDC) launched on Wednesday, the recruitment process for experts to deploy in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, three countries West African affected by Ebola virus epidemic, reported on Thursday RDC national Press Agency.

According to ACP that quoted the Congolese ministry of health, Dr Félix Kabange Numbi, RDC is so going to recruit until next 2nd November, 300 experts who will be deployed under the banner of African Union (AU) in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone in order to contribute to the stop Ebola virus transmission chain in these three countries.

The first 90 selected experts are going to follow, by Saturday, 3 day accelerated training before being sent on Tuesday to Addis Ababa in Ethiopia, where they are going to be deployed in countries affected by Ebola on behalf of UA, noted the Agency.

Twelve categories of experts are going to be recruited: doctors, epidemiologists, male nurses, biologists clinicians, laboratory assistants, pharmacists, nutritionists, logisticians, anthropologists, psychologists, communicologists and computer specialists.

A call for candidature was issued by the Congolese government through the ministry of health.

This recruitment is further to the announcement made by President Joseph Kabila Kabange at the United Nations 69th General assembly for the opening in RDC of multidisciplinary training centers to train service providers capable of participating in the fight against these kinds of epidemic.

RDC that is affected for the seventh time since 1976 by Ebola epidemic has an experience in the fight against this epidemic.

This epidemic that killed 49 persons in its place of appearance in the area of Djera, territory of Boende (1200 km from Kinshasa) in the province of Equateur where it continues to be contained.
