Sunk into a deep sleep for a long time, the Togolese cinema catches up its delay in the sub-region. The first edition of Emergence, the festival of the emergent African movies will be held in the Togolese capital town from 16th to 18th December 2014. Projections of movies and round tables will fill this international meeting of the professionals of the African cinema.
The first edition of Emergence offers the opportunity to the Togolese public to discover the new productions by the Togolese directors. The day of 16th December placed under the theme “tributes to Nana benz“, will be marked first by the projection the documentary movie “Nana Benz, the queens of the African textile“. This short film was worth to its director, Joel Tchedre, several distinctions during the last edition of “Clap Ivoire” in Abidjan (Ivory Coast).
“God gave her one Mercedes Benz” by Katia Petersen is the second movie in the program for the day of 16th December.
According to the program published by the steering committee of the festival, two other unpublished movies are scheduled on 17th December at the Goethe-Institute of Lomé. They are “THE HUSTLERS” by the Togolese director, Egom AMAH and “Atlantic Produce Togo S.A”, a Togolese full-length film by Penda Houzangbe and Jean-Gabriel Tregoat.
The first edition of the Emergence Film Festival finally plans the projection of six short films of the Feminine Africa program by Canal+.
