The event hits the headlines of the Ivorian and African press. Ivory Coast inaugurated on Wednesday, 16th December 2014, the third bridge of the country passing over the lagoon of Abidjan. For a total cost of 270 million euros, the work carried out by the French company, Bouygues, is financed thanks to a Public Private Partnership.
According to the Ivorian president, Alassane Ouattara, the Nr1 of the inaugural ceremony, about 100.000 cars should use the new bridge daily. “As you can notice it, Ivory Coast is at work. Our country is moving forward and fast“, indicated the Ivorian president.
The new infrastructure bears the name of the Ivorian former president, Henri Konan Bédié (HKD). The latter was the carrier of the project that will be finally achieved by his ally Alassane Ouattara, some months ahead of a new presidential election.
“By giving your name to the bridge, we pay you tribute to have shown your attachment to the nation. You are a statesman, a man of your word and a model for the young people“, declared President Ouattara.
For his part, Henri Konan Bédié seized the opportunity and praised the president of the Republic by inviting his fellow countrymen to grant him a new mandate at the head of Ivory Coast.
“This revolutionary work is worth to him alone two presidential terms for its big implementer, President Alassane Ouattara“, asserted Bédié for whom Ouattara is a “tireless builder” a “new developer“.
