The Senegalese president, Macky Sall, proceeded last Wednesday to the laying of the first stone of the second university of Dakar called UNIDAK 2, situated at Diamniadio, about 30 km from Dakar, the capital town.
For a global cost of 65 billion FCFA, the UNIDAK 2 will be directed to sciences, technologies, professions, economics, management and social sciences.
The building will be spread on a surface of 40 hectares and will be divided in four poles (sciences and technologies, health, economy and management, and administration) and equipped with a Board meeting of 20 members.
According to president Sall, this university will combine the excellence in the scientific and professional training to the innovation in the administrative, educational management and research so as to attract the best teachers-researchers.
“With Unidak 2, the urban pole of Diamniadio draped itself in lights. I mean light of knowledge and skills that enlightens the action“, specified President Sall.
“This university is an important stage for the Senegal Emergent plan. There could not be emergence without knowledge and skill that transmit the required knowledge and the skills for quality human resources. Unidak 2 is the first milestone for a program of university infrastructures that plan, among others, the extension of the Gaston Berger University of Saint-Louis (North), Alioune Diop de Bambey (Center), the construction of the university of the Sine Saloum“, indicated Macky Sall.
“It will be quickly realized thanks to the acquired experience in the construction (within 11 months) from the International Center for Conferences that is just in the opposite. Other infrastructures as library, IT center, the head office of the Ministry for Higher Education and Research, the Higher Institute of Education of Dakar, will be built next to UNIDAK 2“, added Pesident Macky Sall.
