New starting for DEMO Africa, the platform that connects the African start-ups to the world ecosystem, and applications for the edition 2015 are opened until next 31st May.

Start-ups that would like to participate in the event can submit their application file on https://vc4africa.biz/demo-africa/.

The applications will be examined by an executive committee made up of experts in business and ICTS sectors. This committee will then have to choose 30 finalists who will go and present their projects at the annual DEMO Africa conference which will take place on 24th and 25th September in Lagos, Nigeria.

The event will be co-organized by the Nigerian ministry of ICTS, the National information technologies agency of the country and the DEMO Africa in partnership with VC4Africa and AfriLabs.

The executive producer of DEMO Africa, Harry Hare, declared that since its launch in 2012, the number of applications continues increasing.

Contrary to 40 usual candidates, this year, DEMO Africa will accept only 30 candidates who can launch their product in an ecosystem fund of venture capital, investors, specialists of techs acquisitions, TI buyers and media from anywhere in the region and in the world“, moreover declared Mr. Hare.

The eligible start-ups must have: products capable of influencing the market – a clear business plan – and a team capable of setting up their various solutions.

For this edition, 12 categories are represented, namely: agriculture, health, education, production, detail, media and entertainment, communication, transport and logistics, energy, bank and finance, water and sanitization, waste management and recycling.

Last year, DEMO Africa gave the opportunity to six (6) start-ups to be on tour in the Silicon Valley to meet and exchange with their peers.

Among these start-ups, there were SpacePointe – Nigeria, Chura – Kenya, Nerve – Nigeria, Paysail – Ghana, Jifunza – Rwanda and Saisai – Zimbabwe.
