Good news for the Liberians. The World Health Organization (WHO) will officially announce the eradication of the Ebola virus disease in Liberia on 9th May 2015. According to BBC that released the news, this declaration will be only possible if no new case of the virus is detected so far.
Liberia finally has von the war against the Ebola virus. The disease that has been raging three West African countries (Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia) since 2014 is finally overthrown.
A “sectorized local retort” was necessary to better control the efficiency of the surveillance, the screening of the cases, the search for contacts and the global management of the necessary main activities to contain the outbreak.
The Ebola Virus affected 11.000 people according to the WHO. Note that the disease slowed down the economic, cultural and tourist activities of the sub-region. By precaution, several festivals and international meetings were cancelled or relocated.
