He was known in March 2011, at the height of Tunisian revolution: Bilal Berreni, alias Zoo project, a French-Tunisian street-artist wanted « to see a revolution ».
He led it with drawings. For weeks, he had painted on walls the full portrait and the life-size of martyrs of the Tunisian revolution before leaving immortalizing at Libyan border, the face of thousands of refugees arrived in Tunisia since Libya.
Bilal Berreni was no more. He was found dead in Detroit, apparently of a bullet in the skull, in Michigan, the United States, reported Detroit Free Press. His corpse stayed several months in the mortuary, was identified only in March 2014.
An investigation is in progress in order to point the circumstances of his death. His family has no more had of his news for several long weeks.
Bilal Berreni started from the age of 15 years old to achieve works on the walls of his district. We shall keep of him the image of an artist of committed works.
Mourad Berreni, his father declared: « He was intelligent, pure, who made no concession with the society. He felt that it was necessary to say what he thought ».
He was also the co-author of the movie « C’est assez bien d‘être fou » (It is Quite Good Being Crazy).
