Last 22nd December, the Air Algeria airline company took delivery, at the international airport of Algiers, of the first plane of a series of 16 new devices ordered last January at the aircraft manufacturers, Boeing, Airbus and ATR.

Of the type ATR 72-600, this plane of 66 seats cost 21,2 million dollars, indicated the Minister of Transport, Amar Ghoul, during the reception ceremony of the device.

The Algerian national company is also going to receive before 2016 two other ATR 72-600, eight devices of the type Boeing 737-800, two of the type Boeing 737-700c and three Airbuses A330-200. The total amount of these acquisitions is 1,073 billion dollars.

Air Algeria launched in 2013, an international call for tenders restricted for the acquisition of 16 new planes among which two for the transportation of goods (cargo aircraft), further to which it proceeded, last January, to the signature of three contracts for the order at Boeing, Airbus and ATR.

These acquisitions are within the framework of the implementation of the medium-term development plan of the national company (2013-2017) that aims at improving its profitability and competitiveness. The new planes will allow Air Algeria that possesses at present 42 devices, to continue the renewal process of its fleet which average age should move from 10 to 7 years thanks to these acquisitions.
