Africa Top Success reported it to you that the American star of Senegalese origin, Ekon is resolutely committed to light the countries of Africa. With his « Akon Lighting Africa » association, he organized last 7th August, the « New Partnership Models for Growth » conference for which several African heads of State were invited. The artist has just announced the creation of a solar energy college.

« The target of the Academy is to teach the installation and the maintenance of electrification systems based on solar energy« , declared the artist. Western experts are requested for the training of African engineers and entrepreneurs for whom this new center is intended.

« We have the sun and innovative technologies to bring electricity to households and communities. We now need to improve the African expertise« , declared Samba Bathily, co-founder of Akon Lighting Africa Group.

By investing in solar energy, Akon intends to kill two birds with one stone. Except lighting which the artist brings to the African countries, he participates in his way to solve thorny problem of youth unemployment.

Indeed, 75 % of the African population is less than 35 years old. It is essential to create stable and sustainable jobs for this category of the population.

Mali, Senegal, Guinea, Benin, Niger, Burkina Faso, Congo Brazzaville, Gabon, Sierra Leone, Equatorial Guinea and Kenya have already benefited from solar kits from « Akon Lighting Africa » association.
