Aminata Dramane Traoré is a reference for African elite that aspires to a model of development other than those dictated by western countries. The Malian politician and writer is famous for her outspokenness and her fight against neocolonialism. Co-writer of « La Gloire des imposteursLettres sur le Mali et l’Afrique » (The Glory of impostors – Letters on Mali and Africa) with Boubacar Diop, published in 2014, she denounced French intervention in her country.

Malian Minister of Tourism from 1997 to 2000, Aminata Dramane Traoré resigned from her functions in order not to be held any more for her duty of confidentiality. Anti-globalization activist, she denounced drastic and unsuitable measures that Bretton Wood institutions imposed to African States.

Aminata Dramane Traoré is convinced of the inefficiency of « plans and programs of international bankers and of major powers of the North. » According to her, these measures increase poverty of Africa and massive movement of African youth towards the West. She is calling African elite to be conscious in order to release the continent from the yokes of liberalism.

« Even if we are poor, we are 15 million inhabitants for an enough rich land which, if it were well exploited, could totally put us under shelter of necessity. The matter is impoverishment, plunder, humiliation and the fact of putting into your mind that you are poor », indicated Aminata Dramane Traoré who also accused international media that show outside bad image of Africa.

In her work « La Gloire des imposteursLettres sur le Mali et l’Afrique » published Editions Philippe Rey, Dramane Traoré denounced intervention of France in Mali. « They simply stole us our country, Boris. I am Malian and I say loud and clear that they stole us Mali, on the pretext of protecting it from jihadists. (…) The truth is that the latter would not have spread terror in Kidal and even less in Konna if Nicolas Sarkozy, secretly encouraged by a certain Bernard-Henri Lévy, had not believed to have put Libya to fire and the sword in disregarding tragic consequences, perfectly predictable of his activism », she revolted.

Born in 1947 in Bamako,Mali, Aminata Dramane Traoré is a Ph.D owner in social psychology and a diploma in psychopathology holder. In 2006 she was responsible of world third social Forum organization (Bamako section).
