As we reported it earlier, the Mauritanian director, Abderrahman Sissako, has marked the history of the African and world cinema by taking winning seven over eight Oscars involved this year.

The coronation of the film-maker is saluted by the new secretary general of the International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF), Jean Michaelle.

« Abderrahman Sissako has become the first director from the sub-Saharan Africa to obtain such a level of recognition from the professionals of cinema. This success comes to crown the career of a work that already seduced the criticism and the public on all the continents, thanks to its exceptional artistic qualities and its universal message« , declared the Canadian in a press release of which Africa Top Success got a copy.

The OIF is delighted at the distinction of the Mauritanian film-maker for several reasons. First of all, « Timbuktu« , the winning movie is a production in French and next, the director repeatedly benefited from the financial support of the international organization.
