The Senegalese artist Coumba Gawlo Seck sets her voice for a campaign of the United Nations Population Fund (Unfpa) Niger to mobilize women of Niger on the spacing of the births and the family planning. In association with 5 of her colleagues of Niger, the artist brought out a song and a video clip that will be officially presented towards the end of June.

In press conference on Wednesday in Dakar, the Senegalese star Coumba Gawlo Seck reaffirmed her attachment to the questions related to the blossoming of woman. She put in contribution her technical and artistic experience in the realization of the song « 4 minutes 40 seconds » that awakens the consciousness of women on the necessity of spacing of the births.

The single was produced by « Studios Tama » of Coumba Gawlo. Apart from the voice of the Senegalese artist, we could see, among other great voices of the music of Niger, as Safia Aminami, Zara Moussa, Fati Halidou and Amsou Garba and Fati Mariko.

These artists who sang in several languages evoked among others, themes related to the dangers of the uncontrolled pregnancies and the importance of the family planning. The song is strongly inspired by the book « 100 femmes du Niger » published by UNFPA Niger.

The sensitizing campaign of the UNFPA is worth it because in Niger, the average number of children per woman is around 6 or 7. According to Monique Clesca de l’ Unfpa Niger, this strong growth rate of the population does not go hand in hand with the economic growth. The population of Niger could double in 20 years if nothing is done.
