Digital Security: Gemalto established in Ivory Coast

Gemalto, world leader in the digital security, announces the opening of an office in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, to well answer the local requests from its customers in West Africa.

This establishment joins the strategy of the group to be a global actor available at the local level, as shown by it its 85 offices spread in 44 countries worldwide. It comes to strengthen the presence of Gemalto on the African continent via its offices and partnerships, particularly in South Africa, Burkina, Gabon, Ghana, Morocco, Kenya and Nigeria.

With a market of the New Information and Communication Technologies that constitutes in Ivory Coast about 10 % of the GDP and a penetration rate of the mobile phone upper to 90 %, this establishment has for vocation to support the digital development of the local economic fabric. This real technological hub will lean on a transfer of skills and an excellent pool in engineering offered by the country.

« Gemalto participates in the digital revolution Africa is living and has already become famous as a main actor in telecommunications, banking services and governmental programs« , specified Eric Claudel, Chairman Africa and the Middle East for Gemalto. « This new area of expertise and engineering is going to allow the implementation of a process of inverted innovation by remodelling the existing solutions according to needs and specificities of the local market. It is also a matter of designing the products of tomorrow in Ivory Coast, according to the priority of its president to make an emerging country for the horizon 2020« .
