Difficult to rank her in a given category as the Nigerian, Obiageli Ezekwesili belongs to the cream of the African women who make the pride of the continent at the international. Chartered accountant, jurist, defender of human rights, Obiageli Ezekwesili has an academic and professional life that inspires many people. She is listed among the 100 most influential personalities of the world in 2015 according to the famous American magazine, Time.

Holder of a Master’s degree in International law and diplomacy (University of Lagos) and another one in public administration (Kennedy School of Government of the University of Harvard), Obiageli Ezekwesili occupied several high functions in Nigeria as well as in the international institutions.

Special assistant of the Nigeria President in charge of the Budget Monitoring and Price Intelligence Unit, she was also a minister of the Development of solid minerals. In this post, Obiageli Ezekwesili followed the law adopted on minerals and mines, the creation of the Nigerian Mining Cadastre Office and the opening of this sector to the private participation.

She also chaired the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) for Nigerian while working for the voluntary membership of her country of the project.

In 2006, she occupied the post of the Nigerian Minister of Education before being appointed the following year as vice-president of the World Bank for Africa. The Nigerian woman had for mission to carry out projects and economic and sectorial studies in 47 countries in the South of Sahara. She had a staff of 1600 agents under her responsibility.

Obiageli left the World Bank in 2012 and is replaced by the Senegalese, Makhtar Sop Diop. The Nigerian woman is known in Africa to have been a founding member of the international organization, « Transparency International« .
