Africa is represented with dignity at the 57th Grammy Awards ceremony planned on 8th February 2015 at Staples Center of Los Angeles (USA).

On the list of the nominees, we actually find famous names of the African music such as the Beninese, Angélique Kidjo as well as the Malian, Toumani and Sidiki Diabaté.

Angélique Kidjo for her album « Eve » (429 Records) and Toumani Diabaté and his son Sidiki, for their album « Toumani & Sidiki« , are nominated in the category of « the world best music album« , specified the web site of the event.

Their competitors in this category are Wu Man, Luis Conte and Daniel Ho, for « Our World In Song » (Daniel Ho Creations and Wind Music), Sérgio Mendes, for Magic (OKeh) and Anoushka Shankar, for « Traces Of You » (Deutsche Grammophon).

Let us remind that the singer, Youssou N’Dour is up to date the only Senegalese to have won an award at Grammy.

His album « Egypt » (2004) was rewarded for the trophy of « the world best music album » in February 2005.

Set up from the vision of the professional and labelled musicians in Los Angeles that felt the need to create a structure that represents the creators, Grammy has become the most prestigious recognition in the world of music.

It is awarded by the American Academy of Recording created in 1957 by the « National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences« .
