Placed under the theme « The children of peace« , the 8th edition of the International Festival of Children Folklore (FIFE) has been taking place since 17th till 24th August in Salé, Morocco.
The event that aims to be a meeting of cultural exchanges between children in order to spread the culture of a peaceful and tolerant world, is an initiative of the Bouregreg association, chaired by Princess Lalla Meriem, elder sister of King Mohammed VI
For this year, approximately 500 children coming from 23 different countries will be present; they are from Belarus, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Spain, the United States, France, Gabon, Congo, Georgia, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Mexico, Palestine, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, Venezuela, including the organizing country.
They will call on « a future without conflicts nor wars » in four languages: Arabic, Tamazight, French and English and will ask in front of the Moroccan parliament to transform this wish into a reality.
The festivities are taking place at various places in the city of Salé. Folk dances and shows are perfomed in the residences of the participating delegations in order to spread friendship between all the « children of the world« .
Visits of historic places of the Moroccan treasure are also scheduled with the aim of discovering the Afro – Arab – Moroccan Muslim culture.
The participating delegations will visit historic monuments of the cities of Rabat and Salé as well as the Hassan II mosque in Casablanca.
