Rwanda: a model in ICTS and e-Gouvernance

The Rwandan capital, Kigali, hosted last week, the Commonwealth e-Government Forum on governance in Africa centered on the theme « Smart Governance through a Networked Government« .

At the end of this meeting that gathered decision-makers and ICTS experts, the latter congratulated Rwanda, a country is listed as a model in the use of ICTS and e-governance for sustainable development.

In his speech during the Forum, the Secretary General of the Commonwealth Telecommunication Organization (CTO), Prof. Tim Unwin appreciated the efforts made by Rwanda to increase the presenting of accounts and the transparency.

« I congratulate the Rwandan people and the government on all the achievements in the use of ICTS for sustainable development. The progress of about 28 % of the Internet penetration rate, more than 70 % of the mobile telephony penetration rate and the cyber-security policy recently adopted, are some evidences of the efforts by the government to set up e-governance systems« , declared Prof. Tim Unwin.

Professor Unwin also congratulated himself on initiatives as the broadband strategy and the « Rwandapedia » that were launched in 2013.

For his part, the Minister of Youth and ICTS, Jean Philbert Nsengimana (photo) declared that Rwanda uses ICTS to offer responsible governance to the citizens.
