The solar power plant of Niakhar for a capacity of 15 MW which works are going to start soon, should contribute to improve the distribution of the electrical energy and facilitate its drain in the region of Fatick (West), indicated on Wednesday Bathie Ka of the Senegal National Electricity Company (SENELEC).
The construction of this power plant « is going to facilitate the drain of the electrical energy because it is within the framework of the Senegal Emergent Plan (PSE)« , declared Mr. Kâ, design engineer for the Management of the equipment and the environment of the SENELEC equipment networks department.
Through the construction of this power plant, the electricity network should allow « certain mesh to strengthen the entire electricity network, he said.
Mr. Kâ spoke to journalists at the end of the pre-validation meeting of the report concerning the study of environmental and social impact of the construction project of a solar power plant of 15MW in the municipality of Niakhar.
This photovoltaic solar power plant of 15 MW will « be injected in the network because beside, there is a high tension line that connects the power plant of Kaolack to the post of Fatick« , he said.
« All the impulses are done so that this power plant is constructed and more relieves the populations. (…) », he said, specifying that this electric infrastructure will be installed over 30 hectares a part of which there is farming and breeding. « So, there will necessarily be impacts« , raised Bathie Kâ.
In this context, is planned an evaluation commission of the expenditures. « It will be the multidisciplinary team and as far as it is concerned, will have to make an evaluation of the nature of the owner impacted« , he said.
« We plan the resumption of medium tension networks to Niakhar, Fatick and even up to Foundiougne. We plan to increase, if necessary, in an exponential way, the rate of rural electrification« , assured the engineer.
« The advantage is that it is a clean technology meaning that it is a technology that has no significant impact on the environment« , indicated Abdelah Camara, manager of the Regional division environment and establishments classified by Fatick.
He insisted on the importance of the environmental issue, noting that the setting-up zone of this power plant « is essentially Sahelian« , with 600 millimeters of rain per year.
« It is a zone where sylvio-pastoral activities take place. A public hearing is planned this Friday. It is really the crucial stage that consists in going back to the populations so that they give their opinion on the project« , declared Mr. Camara.
After that, a certificate of compliance is expected from the SENELEC, a document that will be issued by the Ministry of the Environment and the sustainable Environment, according to Bathie Kâ.
« It is the power plant that will be built on 30 hectares and the surfaces chosen are used by these local populations for farming or the agro pastoral« , he specified.
He nevertheless insisted on the importance of this project that should cost 30 billion FCFA that would mainly come from the United Arab Emirates.
