Senegal: L. S. Senghor foundation is thinking about the revival of Africa

Boycotted in 2013 by students of the University Cheik Anta Diop of Dakar (UCAD), the annual inaugural Conference of the reopening of Léopold Sédar Senghor Foundation will be held on Wednesday under the theme: « From the Negritude to the African Renaissance: what concepts, keys of reading and answers for today and tomorrow? »

 

The conference will be presented by Hountondji, qualified philosophy teacher, emeritus professor of national universities of Benin and the Senegalese professor Souleymane Bachir Diagne. The speakers will go back to the origins of the movement of the negritude in 1930. They will also stress on the revival of Africa, theme of the fiftieth anniversary of the African Union.

 

The Léopold Sédar Senghor foundation plans to collect reflections given on the development of African continent to make of it syntheses in order « to emit major concepts, to link past teachings to the present ones to be built, to assure projection on our future and to gather the multiple outcomes in a memory to be built. « 

 

Created in 1975, the foundation aims at protecting and enriching the cultural heritage of Africa. It organizes exhibitions and poetic meetings.
