Togo: Possible postponement of the presidential election 2015

The date of 15th April 2015 chosen by the Togolese government as the holding of the presidential election could be revised within the next hours. The serving chairman of the ECOWAS conference of the heads of States and governments, Dramani Mahama, made on Tuesday at the end of his stay in the Togolese capital, a declaration according to which he wished the presidential election is held finally on 25th April 2015.

President Dramani explained his proposal by the works of the experts of the International Organization of the Francophonie on the electoral file that will close at the end of the current week.

« Considering the work done on the electoral roll, it is not obvious that elections can take place on 15th April as expected. For that purpose the ECOWAS would like the elections to be postponed of 10 days so that they can take place on 25th April for the work done on the electoral roll can satisfy all the voters and the elections can be held« , declared the Ghanaian president.

Concerning the question of the ballots, the ECOWAS serving chairman exhorted the CENI to put at the disposal of the political parties, the specimens of the ballots in order to facilitate the training and the awareness-raising of the voters.
