Women in Burkina: Creation out of connection!

The Burkinabe government is particularly interested in the implication of women in the Information and Communication Technologies (ICTS).

In the straight line for the celebration of the International Woman’s Day (IWD 2015), about twenty women and IT specialists met last Saturday in Ouagadougou under the initiative of the managing staff of the « Women Techmakers » (WTM) world program, a brand of Google for women in technology.

The objective of this meeting centered under the theme: « Connect, Create, Celebrate » was to make sensitive, motivate and more involve women in the field of ICTS.

Launched) in 2012, the WTM aims at making progress, grow up and celebrate women developers, designers and entrepreneurs in technology.

Kindly note that Google Developer Group (GDG / Ouaga) is partner of WTM. The GDG of Ouaga is thus a group of developers interested in the technologies of the Giant of Mountain View such as GWT, Android, App Engine, APIs Google, Drive, Chrome etc.

These women took the opportunity to invite Hadja Ouattara, the minister for the development of the digital economy, to make so that women are more involved in the policy by the government mainly in the field of ICTS.

In reply, the latter reassured that: « ICTS are multi-actors. All sectors of the society have to be taken into account for the promotion of women, a sector particularly valued by the transition government« .

He besides invited the audience « to do so that their actions are visible by making proposals most of the time« .
