The TOUREL: the future highest building in Central Africa

The Electricity Tower of Cameroon (TOUREL) is the 41-storey building presented as the future highest building in Central Africa that will be erected in the next months in Cameroon.

The jewel that will be built in Yaoundé, the capital, will gather the main public structures working in the electricity sector mainly the Rural Electrification Agency (AER), the Electricity Sector Regulation Agency (ARSEL), and the Electricity Development Corporation (EDC), being secular partner of the Cameroonian State in the energy infrastructures building.

The building will also host a hotel, conference rooms and high-end apartments.

It is the South African company « Umnombo Consortium Partners » that was chosen to build the TOUREL.

For a global cost of 65 billion FCFA, the works of the building should last 36 months among which six months for the technical studies.

The TOUREL could later host also the premises of the public company in charge of the transport of electricity under creation.

The project will allow creating more than 1700 direct jobs and approximately 2700 indirect jobs.
