So much emotion for Lupita Nyong’o and all Africa!
The young Kenyan actress of 30 years old received yesterday evening the Oscar of feminine supporting role in Hollywood for her role in « 12 Years a Slave », a movie inspired by a true story on slavery which was praised by criticisms.

« I never forget that all this enjoyment in my life is the fruit of so many sufferings », she declared very touched, when receiving the prestigious statuette.

The movie tells Solomon Northup’s memoirs – played by English-Nigerian Chiwetel Ejiofor- the Black and free young man, a musician of the State of New York, who was kidnapped in 1841. He then worked during twelve years as slave in a cotton plantation in Louisiana.

Lupita Nyong’o actored in the role of Patsey. She was sublime as well as moving.

Brad Pitt also took part in the casting.

Last September, the movie has already won People Choice Award, awarded by the public of Toronto International Film Festival.

Lupita Nyong’o was born in 1983 in Mexico but of Kenyan parents. She was mainly raised in Kenya. Her father was the former Kenyan minister of Medical services. He was elected in 2013 to represent the county of Kisumu at the Senate. He has a doctorate in political sciences of the University of Chicago and he taught in Mexico and in Ethiopia before taking a post at the University of Nairobi where he is teaching political sciences. His uncle was the famous Kenyan pathologist Aggrey Nyong’o, who died in a mysterious car accident in 2002 having been involved in the death of John Anthony Kaiser. His cousin Isis Nyong’o was appointed as one of the most powerful women of Africa by Forbes magazine in 2012.

Lupita Nyong’o followed her university studies of cinema in the United States. In 2008, she got a great success in her country with the television series “Kenya Shuga” before being impressive at Hollywood as actress.
