Nigeria: the first victims in the fight against corruption locked up

Buhari

Considered unbribable, the new president of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari has just made the first victims in his fight against corruption, the plague that weakens the Nigerian economy.

At least about twenty executives of the Central Bank of Nigeria and private Banks are locked up after the taking office of President Buhari. They are accused by the national agency for the fight against corruption of not having destroyed the worm bank notes that are supposed to be no more in use.

« They were supposed to destroy out-of-date or damaged bank notes for several billion nairas, but they did not do« , specified the agency.

Muhammadu Buhari distances himself one more time from his predecessor Goodlock Jonathan. The new president has for the first time in Nigeria published his properties and asked from his collaborators to do the same.
