In front of the strong penetration of China and emerging countries on the African market, the classic partners of the continent have changed method.

After the USA-AFRICA Summit, France is also trying to catch up on the African market. The French-African foundation will be officially launched on 6th February 2015.

Proposed by a workgroup gathering Hubert Védrine, Tidjane Thiam, Jean-Michel Severino and Hakim El Karoui, it was confirmed during the Peace and Security Summit of the Elysee in December 2013, by the African and French Heads of States.

For the chairman of the French-African foundation, Lionel Zinsou, his institution « is not an administration, but a real community, organized in the style of a social network that is not financed by the tax but by contributions and voluntary contributions, the governance of which is not political, but associative and private. »

The presidents Ali Bongo Ondimba, Uhuru Kenyatta, Alassane Ouattara and Macky Sall, more than forty African and French Ministers and businessmen are expected during the launching of the foundation. The French president, François Hollande, is also announced in the event.

Employment, the youth, women’s networks and environment are at the heart of the new organization that has for methods, direct partnership for company to company, metropolis to metropolis, rural community to rural community, university to laboratory …

« Europe needs the growth of this continent, its creativity and its human resources. And Africa needs all the eventual allies, and thus European because there is urgency. Between both worlds, an essential advantage: the Diaspora. For their security and peace of mind, neither France, nor Africa can postpone mobilizing themselves for their shared growth« , indicated the financier, Lionel Zinsou.
