The president of the Republic of Ghana is renewed by his peers at the head of the Conference of the heads of States and governments of the ECOWAS (Economic Community Of West Africa States). John Dramani Mahama has taken this post since the leaving of the Ivorian president, Alassane Ouattara.

« The Conference pays an emotional tribute (to the president) John Dramani Mahama (…) for the impulse he continues giving to the integration process. The Conference particularly expresses its gratitude to him for his availability and his personal implication in the peace keeping and democracy experiences in West Africa », stated the communiqué released at the works in Abudja (Nigeria).

Dramani Mahama will have to pursue his efforts in favor of peace in this part of Africa. His actions for the return of peace in Burkina Faso after the demonstrations that forced Blaise to leave his country were appreciated by the international community.

The Ghanaian president and his peers also have to intensify the fight against the Ebola virus disease which affects Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone. The disease has already caused more than 7000 deaths.

John Dramani Mahama is at the head of Ghana since 24th July 2012. He replaced at first the late president, John Atta-Mills before being elected on 7th December 2014.
