Ghana: Nana Addo elected candidate of NPP for elections in 2016

The former candidate of the New Patrotic Party (NPP, opposition) at the presidential election, Mr. Nana Addo Dunkwa Akufo, was elected last Saturday by the representatives of the party to stand for the NPP during the general elections planned in 2016.

Nana Addo was the candidate of the party during the presidential elections of 2008 and 2012.

The Director of elections within the Electoral commission (EC), Mr. Samuel Tetey who announced the results, declared that Nana Addo obtained 117.413 votes over 125.726 votes expressed, or 94.3 % over the total whereas his closest rival, Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten, obtained 5.908 votes, that is 4,75 %.

As for the third pretender, Francis Addai Nimo, he was credited with 1.028 votes, or 0,91 % of the votes.

Kyeremanten and Addai both promised to bring their support to Nana Addo towards the elections of 2016.

In his speech after the choice of his person, Nana Addo thanked his colleagues to have trusted him.
