Jalloul Ayed: on the way to the head of ADB

At the head of the African Development Bank (ADB) since 2005, Donald Kaburuka will leave his chair in May 2015 when elections will be held during General assemblies in Ivory Coast.

Applications being received till the end of January 2015, eight (8) candidates are in race for the succession among whom, Mr. Jalloul Ayed.

The former Minister of Finance stands as candidate of Tunisia for the presidency of the institution.

By announcing his candidacy, Mr. Ayed asserted that « he will work to make known his vision for Africa on a wide scale in order to succeed in having the support of a great number of member countries for this African financial institution« .

« If I have the honor to be at the head of ADB, I shall work to guarantee a better future for all Africans« , he added.

The former Minister of Finance asserted besides that his strategy will be around three main points: improvement of infrastructures, strengthening of the role of private sector and improvement of life quality of African peoples.

Born on 6th February 1951 in Khniss, Jalloul Ayed is a banker, a politician and a Tunisian composer.

He was Minister of Finance from January to December 2011 within the national union government of Mohamed Ghannouchi that followed the revolution, then within that of Béji Caïd Essebsi.
