Lilian Thuram continues his African tour within the framework of promotion of his book « Mes Etoiles Noires » (My Black Stars). After Guinea, Thuram went to Cotonou (Benin) on Friday. In his book, the winner of football World Cup 1998 pays a tribute to men and women who made history of humanity and who constitute his source of inspiration.
« It is preferable, when you are a Black, to have referents, people of Black color (…) And actually, if people here on the African continent do not know these stars, I actually think this book can be very very beneficial », explained Thuram quoted by RFI.
Sold at 3000 FCFA, the book is especially recommended to young pupils and students eager to know history of those who made and continue to make African continent. According to the representative Beninese Ministry of Culture present during the meeting, his department promised to buy at least hundred copies of Lilian Thuram’s book for Libraries and schools of Benin.
The tour of the former player of Barcelona continues into Haiti then into Senegal. Except the book « Mes Etoiles noires » published in 2010, Thuram is also the author of the « Manifeste pour l’égalité » (Manifesto for the equality (Manifesto for equality) published at Autrement editions in March 2012.
