MIA 2014: Isaac KATASSOU, the best bass player of the continent!

One more time, Togo drew attention in the sub-region. Instrumentalists of the country struck a blow during the first edition of the Best Instrumentalists of Africa festival (MIA) that came to an end on Saturday, 27th September 2014 in Cotonou (Benin). Shalom Voice Band from Togo was appointed the best band of the continent. The best bass player and the African drummer trophies also came to the Togolese Isaac KATASSOU and SAMUEL TETEY.

Started on 20th September 2014, the very first edition of the Best Instrumentalists of Africa festival (MIA 2014) came to an end on Saturday with the prize-winners selection of every category. Togo, represented at this continental meeting by the Shalom Voice band was as high as expectations. With gospel, the Togolese young people won the best band trophy.

Isaac KATASSOU from the Shalom Voice band was also appointed the best bass player of the continent. « The entire Shalom Voice band can say Hosana to the God of glory (…) After Toofan a few months ago, it is the turn of the Shalom Voice band that honors our country, Togo. Gospel, yes gospel also has its place in Togolese music. Afrikonexion will continue the fight beside gospel artists who share our vision for other prizes and trophies for Togo« , wrote on his Facebook page, Frederic Kodzo, member of the Togolese delegation present at the festival.

As reminder, the best African drummer prize was awarded to SAMUEL TETEY also from Shalom Voice band. The Beninese SOUMANOU Wahab from « Ma culuture » band won the trophy of the best saxophonist of the continent and Ghana got the best African soloist prize.
