MIA: Africa celebrates its best instrumentalists

End last Saturday, 27th September 2014 of the very first edition of the Best instrumentalists of Africa Festival, opened on 23rd September 2014 inside the esplanade of the Amitié Stadium of Cotonou, Benin.

The initiative comes from Eurosia Groupe that, in order to end this big cultural meeting, decided to plan the « African Bands Evening« .

During this evening, the best instrumentalists of Africa will be rewarded on the internal esplanade of Amitié Stadium of Cotonou.

They are namely Manu Dibango from Cameroon and Lionel Louekè from Benin.

According to organizers, this meeting aims at contributing to the valuation and the restructuring of instrumentalists’ job in Africa.

« This festival aims at promoting and rewarding musicians instrumentalists of the African continent in Cotonou through MIA Trophies and that will gather about 2500 festival-goers coming from African countries and elsewhere« , underlined Sessi Tonoukouin, steering committee member.

As a reminder, the festival is opened to the bands from the 15 countries of the Economic Community of the West African States (ECOWAS) through a call for applications in five categories, namely: best bass player, best soloist, best drummer, best saxophonist and best composition 100 % live.
