The governor of the West African Central Bank (WACB), Tiémoko Meyliet Koné, and president of the West African Development Bank (WADB), Christian Adovèlandé, both have just obtained a new mandate for six (6) years.
It was the Beninese president, Boni Yayi that assuming the functions of serving president of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU), who made on Saturday, the announcement of the renewal mandates of both West African banks.
Tiémoko Meyliet Koné’s new mandate started on 17th August 2014 and that of Chritian Adovèlandé, on 8th February 2014.
Appointed at the head of the West African Central Bank (WACB) on 30th May 2011 in the middle of a post-electoral crisis in Ivory Coast, the Ivorian Tiémoko Meyliet Koné thus succeeded to his fellow countryman Philipe-Henri Dacoury-Tabley at the head of the sub-regional financial institution.
Christian Adovèlandé, of Beninese nationality, joined the WADB in April 1978 before taking control in February 2011, having managed during 9 years the ECOWAS Bank of Investment and Development (EBID).
He was previously employed by WADB at various posts of responsibility, occupying in particular the post of General Secretary with special responsibility for the Guarantee fund of the private investments in West Africa (GARI S.A) from 1995 to 1999.
The WACB is the central bank of the WAEMU.
The WADB is an international institution which mission is to promote the well-balanced development of member States and realize the economic integration of West Africa by financing priority projects.
