Zambia: tourism sailing before the wind

Zambia is fascinating western tourists. In 2013 the country registered the visit of 914.576 tourists. Zambia Tourism Board (ZTB) indicated this week that they will do better this year. Thay planned a 20 % increase of tourist activities.

« Tourists’ arrivals in Zambia for 2013 amounted to 914 576 and with a profit estimated at 300 million dollars », declared Felix Chaila, head of tourism marketing agency in the columns of Times of Zambia.

The sector of tourism is palying a very significant role in the economy of Zambia. It represents approximately 4 % of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This rate could reach 6 % in 2016 according to Felix Chaila.

To achieve its goals, Zambia is working in favor of creating a united visa with Zimbabwe. The subject was evoked in August 2013 during the General assembly of World Tourism Organization (WTO).

Zambia is a rich country for its places of interest. Tourists are generally attracted by Victoria Falls, National Museum of Lusaka, the region of Copperbelt or Tanganyika lakes, Bangweulu, Kariba and Mweru. The country is also reputed for the softness of its climate.
