festa2h-2014

From 4th to 8th June 2014, Dakar will be the confluence point of all kinds of expressions emanating from Hip-hop and urban cultures during the of the 9th edition of Festa2H, the international festival of Hip-hop and urban cultures.

Rap, djing, dance, slam, graffiti, etc., will again be in the spotlight by Africulturban association that will offer to the Senegalese public, a presentation reflecting the diverse artistic facets of the current urban cultures.

Moving from 10 to 5 days, Africulturban decided to reorient its programming including most of its festivities at the Community arts center, Douta Seck.

Festa2H nevertheless, remains a movable event because a part of the festivities will take place in Goethe-Institute, long-standing partner of the festival and in the Cultural Complex Léopold Sédar Senghor of Pikine, head office of Africulturban.

This year, the festival has the honor to welcome artists of international fames such as Medine, Akua Naru or Pockemon Crew but also other talents evolving in the underground. 52 artists coming from 13 countries (Senegal, France, Spain, Belgium, Gambia, Mauritania, Guinea Bissau, Zimbabwé, Austria, the United Kingdom, Denmark, the USA, Switzerland) will thus be there.

Africulturban takes advantage from this event to organize the big final of Flow Up. Indeed, since January, the association supported by the European Union has organized the semi-finals of this competition on 5th June; we shall finally know the name of the artist that will succeed to Ngaaka Blin D, finalist of the edition 2013.

The majority of the programming of Festa2H is centered on music but the other artistic disciplines are not nevertheless put aside.

Two movies are going to be projected, Mauvaises Herbes on the tag in Brussels, on Friday, 5th June at 5:30 pm in Goethe-Institute and Doin’ it in the park: Pick-Up Basketball in New York, on Sunday, 8th June at 7 pm in the Cultural Complex Léopold Sédar Senghor of Pikine.

A battle DJ, sponsored by DJ Geebays, will see the best of Djs of Senegal in confrontation; it will also take place on 8th June as well as a poetry night concocted by Krefour Poetik, slam club of Africulturban.
