Aya N’Dri Yoman: she aims at being the WHO regional manager

First woman in West Africa to hold a professorship in medicine, Dr Thérèse N’Dri Yoman that is from Ivory Coast and specialized in hepato-gastroenterology, intends to put his big experience at the service of the continent.

Dr Thérèse Aya N’Dri Yoman, former Minister of health and fight against AIDS, announced her application for the regional manager of the World Health Organization for Africa during the 64th session of the regional commission of this institution that will take place in next September in Benin.

During the launching of her campaign in Geneva on last 22nd May together with the current Minister of health and fight against AIDS, Dr Raymonde Goudou Coffie, the Ivory Coast candidate expressed her vision.

She indicated that she dreams « of an African region freed from barriers with the aim of access to quality care for all in an equity and solidarity environment« .

For his part, the Ivory Coast government that authorized her application during the cabinet meeting of 12th June presided by the Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara, is convinced that Professor Thérèse N’Dri Yoman has the ideal profile. Moreover, it is the reason that explained this big mobilization of the nation around her application.

So on 24th June 2014 in the office of the regional evaluation center in education, environment, health and accreditation in Africa (CRESAC), she will talk in front of the press about the question of her application for the regional manager post of the WHO for Africa.

According to Mrs Bamba-Lamine, deputy spokeswoman of the government, this application is within the framework of the promotion of the natives of Ivory Coast within the international organizations on the instigation of President Alassane Ouattara.

Madam Dr Thérèse Aya N’Dri Yoman is Doctor in Medicine, certified of the Faculty of Medicine of Abidjan (1983), Professor teaching and research, Full professor in hepato-gastroenterology.

She is at present Head of Department of Medicine in the Yopougon Teaching Hospital and Special Adviser at the Presidency of the Republic in charge of Health.

She has a strong training, a rich University career and has occupied high academic, administrative and governmental functions. She is very early involved in the fight against Viral Hepatitis and HIV / AIDS.

Her big interest for interventions and management of the public health programs was worth to her the trust of her university peers, authorities of her country and the medical and scientific sector elsewhere.

Dr Thérèse N’Dri Yoman, throughout her professional career, has showed rigor in the work with obligation to get results, team spirit and repeatedly showed her capacities to work in complex and crises situations.
