Ivory Coast: 14 new qualified African students at « Aggreko »

« Université Aggreko » program continues its training in the domains of electricity and mechanics, making so competent and experimented technicians all over West Africa.

Fourteen (14) students from West and Central Africa were officially awarded a diploma during a ceremony in Abidjan in the presence of the senior executives of Aggreko and IC-Eergies.

These recipients from Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Benin, Senegal, RDC, Chad and Ivory Coast, were chosen to follow the summer module of the program.

They were selected among more than 400 candidates after a series of evaluations carried out in May and June in these seven countries.

The students also discovered the activities of Aggreko as well as the fundamental aspects of an Aggreko installation.

At the end of this program, the graduates will be offered job opportunities within Aggreko in order occupy technical and management posts of the projects on Aggreko various sites.

« Aggreko gives a very great importance to its commitment in Africa. By identifying local talents with great potential and by training them quickly within the framework of Université Aggreko program, we are capable of proposing to students job opportunities and future prospects, while seeing to maintain a breeding-ground for future competent leaders who will be associated to the projects of our company« , declared Yan Pardailhe-Galabrun, human resources manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa at Aggreko.

And he added: « it is also about an essential approach aiming at developing skills of local workforce and supporting communities within which we exercise our activities« .

« As members of one of the most famous engineer schools of West Africa, we are proud of « supporting education and employment of young talented natives of Ivory Coast beside our young brothers and sisters from the nearby countries« , specified for his part, Dr Yao K. Alphonse, director of Mines and Geology College at Houpouét Boigny National Polytechnic Institute (INP-HB).

The latter underlined that Aggreko program constitutes a remarkable initiative that adds a real value by bringing some experience and proposing jobs to future leaders of energy sector in West Africa.

With more than 1,3 GW of power currently in use in 25 African countries, Aggreko is the biggest supplier of fast solutions of temporary power supply on the continent.

Having penetrated the African market in 1995, Aggreko has established a presence throughout the continent by installing operating centers in Lagos, Luanda, Dar es Salaam, Nairobi, Johannesburg, Port-Elizabeth, Cape Town, Durban and Walvis Bay, with the support of its regional poles of Dubai and Paris. Within the framework of its opeartions in Africa, Aggreko employs more than 700 people among whom, more than 90 % are African nationals.
