Closed on 26th May in Ndjamena (Chad), the 16th ordinary session of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) appointed the Gabonese president, Ali Bongo at the head of the institution. The Gabonese thus succeeds to his Chadian counterpart, Idriss Deby Itno.
The new boss of Central Africa is aware of the challenges he is going to face. Except the preservation of security of the zone threatened by armed groups, Ali Bongo has to continue the sub-regional integration process started by his predecessors.
« I weigh up the immensity of challenges the community must face right now and in the coming years. I am convinced that together we shall make the integration process of our sub-region progress« , declared President Ali Bongo.
