Abdel-Fattah-al-Sisi

The former leader of the army and the strongman of Egypt, Abdel Fattah al-Sissi, has just obtained a crushing victory in the presidential election with 96,2 % of the votes in about 90 % of polling stations, according to the television of State.

The retired marshal, Sissi, will de facto rule the temporary government that he set up 11 months ago after having dismissed and imprisoned the Islamist Mohamed Morsi, the first democratically elected president in the most populated of Arab countries. And he has been enjoying a real cult of personality since this government had been bloody repressing any demonstration of the partisans of Mr. Morsi.

It is obvious that he cannot reverse the trend anymore and that there is no doubt that Mr. Sissi will be proclaimed victorious when the official results will be out in a few days at the most.

During Thursday night, thousands of supporters of Mr. Sissi danced and sang in the capital, especially on Tahrir square, epicenter of the popular revolt which chased away Hosni Moubarak from power at the beginning of 2011 after 30 years of absolute reign of this former general.

Fireworks illuminated the sky in the middle of huge posters of Sissi as millions of walls of the country have been covered with it since he dismissed Morsi on 3rd July 2013.

The participation figure which was not published yet, is the only unknown and the only stake in this ballot played beforehand for which Mr. Sissi have been repeating with obsession for months that he did not wished to take the lead of Egypt unless he got a popular massive support.
