Gabon: the first country to host a world telecoms Colloquiums

Libreville, the Gabonese capital welcomes from 8th to 11th June of this year, the 15th World Conference International Telecommunications.

The announcement was made on Tuesday, 31st March in Libreville by Andrew Mugege, Manager Africa of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

The event that is co-organized by the ITU in partnership with the Gabonese government will be held around the theme: « Pay attention to the digital divide! Regulatory incentive measures to concretize the digital potential« .

About thirty countries will be represented at this meeting which takes place for the first time in an African country. It generally gathers national telecommunication regulation organizations.

« The colloquium will represent a particular moment for the representatives of the private sector and the regulators all over the world to confront their experiences« , declared Mr. Mugege at the end of an interview with the Gabonese Prime Minister, Daniel Ona Ondo.

The latter expressed his gratitude towards the Gabonese authorities to have agreed to organize this colloquium which « is going to give the opportunity to decision-makers and regulators of the communication sector to exchange their points view on the great evolutions and the problems of the Information and communication technologies sector« .
