Honors for Lassana Bathily who deserves them. We should remind that this young Malian saved several customers during the hostage-taking of the Hyper Cacher supermarket in France.
More than two months after the hostage-taking at Porte de Vincennes in France, the « hero » received the medal of courage of the Simon-Wiesenthal Center last Tuesday in Los Angeles, the United States.
His bravery action is still present in the memories, the one to have saved hostages’ life from the claws of the jihadist, Amedy Coulibaly.
He was honored within the framework of the annual official reception for fund raising of the Center which mission is to protect the memory of the Holocaust and fight against racism.
For the one who is henceforth Franco – Malian, his action was first all « natural« . « I did not wonder if they were Christians or Jews. I am not a symbol, but just myself and I acted by the simply will to help my fellow man« , declared Lassana Bathily, having received the medal. He said regret for not having saved all the hostages.
Seizing the opportunity, he underlined that « the fight against terrorism first passes through the education of children« .
He moreover announced during the ceremony his desire to create an association for his village in Mali and help children of immigrants.
