Macky Sall and Paul Kagamé: good performance for Christine Lagarde

In a press release published by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the manager of the monetary institute, Christine Lagarde, is starting an African visit on 26th January of this year.

The Chief Executive Officer of the IMF will first visit Rwanda from 26th to 29th January 2015 before finishing her tour in Senegal from 29th to 31st January 2015.

« My visit will be the opportunity to strengthen the partnership of the IMF with Rwanda and Senegal, two countries that succeeded in building strong, stable and consolidated economies within the most dynamic second region of the world« , indicated Christine Lagarde in the communiqué.

The document underlines that in every country, she will meet the leaders and actors of the social life of each of these countries.

She will also have series of meetings with business managers, members of Parliament, women leaders as well as representatives of companies and civil society.

« In Kigali, CEO of the IMF will have conversations with President Paul Kagamé as well as other senior officials of the country. In Dakar, she will be welcomed by President Macky Sall and his team. She will give a speech in front of the Parliament of each country and, in Senegal, will meet senior officials of the Central Bank of West African States« , specifies the communiqué.

For the record, since her appointment, Christine Lagarde already visited South Africa, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Mauritius Island, Mali, Malawi, Mozambique, Niger and Nigeria.

According to her, during the last 20 years, Rwanda has become an example of economic success in Africa, by by achieving real progress that shows high growth rates and reduction of poverty.

« Senegal set up an ambitious program to accelerate the economic growth and lay the foundations for an economic diversification« , she said.
