NEPAD Summit: Preliminary studies started last Saturday

NEPADThe preparatory meeting at the summit of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) on infrastructures financing opened on Saturday, 14th June in Dakar, Senegal.

About one hundred of Experts as well as government representatives of African countries, technical and financial partners and representatives of employers are taking part in this meeting.

The activities were launched by the Senegalese Prime Minister Mrs Aminata Touré.

According to Mrs Touré, the meeting of Dakar aims at mobilizing all the partners around the African Union and the NEPAD to accelerate the financial finishing of the 16 regional infrastructure projects identified within the framework of the Infrastructures Development Program in Africa.

In her speech, she presented the 16 multi-sector projects, clarifying that they concern energy sectors, information and the communication technologies and transport.

The experts are thus going to work on the progress realized in the application of the identified projects.

Kindly note that the aforementioned meeting also got the presence of Ibrahim Assane Mayaki, the executive secretary of the NEPAD agency and Carlos Lopes, the under-secretary of the UNO and the executive secretary of the UNO economic Committee for Africa.

On Sunday, the Heads of State and of government of the African countries met the representatives of the African banking sector and elsewhere in order to find ways and means to finance the infrastructures projects foreseen by the NEPAD.
