The sixth edition of the African conference on Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) started on 19th November came to an end last Friday in the Ivory Coast capital town. Placed under the theme « Promoting viable PPP to the advantage of future generations« , the meeting allowed the participants (400 companies managers from about thirty African countries as well as international experts) to evoke the importance of the Internet in the development of Africa.

In an interview granted to APA, Seybou Saley, police committee member for the sector in support of the Public-Private Partnerships, indicated the necessity for Africa to be equipped with optical fiber. « The inter connectivity of optical fibers will allow to build Africa. We cannot build this continent if everybody stays at his place. A connection between States and a connection between all these States and the private sector are required« , he indicated.

Seybou Saley proposed as solution to this new challenge Africa has to face, the harmonization of regulations. « The works on this harmonization of the regulations has already started at the level of the Economic Community of the West African States (ECOWAS) as well as at the level of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU)« , he specified.

As reminder, Ivory Coast is the first French-speaking country of Africa to have hosted the conference on PPP after Tunisia, Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa.
