Water remains a precious and vital resource for the survival of the human, animal and vegetable race. Initiatives are multiplied on the continent for its supply in sufficient quantity and quality for the greater well-being of the populations, rural particularly.
In Burkina Faso, the project for drinking water supply in the city of Ouagadougou from the Ziga dam (at about forty km from the capital), will benefit from a financing of 20 billion FCFA within the next days.
This, thanks to partners as the Islamic Development Bank (BID), the OPEC Fund for the international development (OFID) and the Arabic Bank for the Economic Development in Africa (BADEA).
The financial envelope aims at improving the living conditions of the inhabitants of the city of Ouagadougou, in particular, those of the outskirts through the satisfaction of their need in drinking water by 2030.
The second phase of the Ziga II Project has a global cost estimated at 104 billion FCFA, underlined APA News. The news agency specified that « the support will allow serving more than 232 000 new beneficiaries and will contribute to the continuity of the drinking water service to the whole Ouagadougou and its outskirts, or more than 2,5 million inhabitants« .
The Ziga II project benefits from the financing of the other partners such as the World Bank and the French Agency of development (AFD).
