In West Africa, the President of Burkina Faso Blaise Compaoré is said as the most present African Head of State on social networks. In order to show his attachment to the development of the Information and of Communication Technologies (ICTS), it was introduced since 2013, the National Week of the Internet (SNI). The second edition of the event is planned from 4th to 22nd November 2014 under the theme, « The on-line child welfare« .

In order to encourage actors involved in the ICTS in Burkina Faso and to boost the sector, « ICTS Grand Prix by the President of Faso » is launched this year, a competition open to Developers, Webmasters, Designers of Web sites and to the Business managers.

Candidatures for the competition have to comply with the needs existing in domains as education, health, environment, competitiveness of companies, administrative governance or democracy.

Apart from the « ICTS Grand Prix by the President of Faso » (for 3.000.000 FCFA), the National Week of the Internet will also reward the best stand, the best software and the best Web site.
